By reading this article you will gain an essential understanding of the basics on how to play Texas Holdem, whether you’re playing pay or free poker. Like all variants of poker, individuals compete for combined money or chips (known as the pot). The rotation of the game is always to the dealers left. At the start of the game each gambler receives 2cards, placed with the suit down so the gambler can not see their hand. This is your first chance to have a flutter and during this first period each participant gets the chance to continue or walk away.
Next, three cards are dealt face up in the center. This is called the flop, and these are community cards to be used by all players in making their “hands”, along with the two they have already got in their hand. You make a second wager after the flop. This time, a player can pass, because a pot has already been started.
Then two more cards are dealt face up in the center, one at a time, with a betting interval after each card.
When I play I make it good practice to ‘throw away’ the top cards at every turn: throw one away then turn another. The min theory behind this method is to stop swindling. I will explain; in nearly all cases of marked card deception the top cards are used as marking points, but by throwing away the top card(s) breaks this cycle.
Not that for one moment I’m suggesting that this element exists in all games; it does on the other hand remain a custom (throwing away the top card) in which most expert and novices become a custom too.
Depending on the game your involved in will determine if there is a cap to the money which be won. However Holdem is an appealing game due to the amount of opportunities you will be presented with to have something to draw at.
If you are new to Hold’em then have a go at playing free poker online where its totally free and you wont lose any of your own cash.

Free Online Poker Guide to Building a Bankroll from Nothing
If you are interested in making some extra money by playing poker then here are a few tips on where to start. There is no guarantee that you are actually going to win loads of cash, but its worth a go and if you turn out to be a good enough player then your chances are high. If your starting from zero obviously you need to find a free online poker site with some freerolls.
Try not to waste too much of your time at major sites because often their freerolls have anywhere from 2,000 to 20,000 people. Chances are that the payout at the end will be pretty big, but the chances of getting there are very unlikely. Place top 1% to win a ticket to this, for a shot at that. After placement in top 1% two or even 3 times in a row is how you make money.
This is where the majority of players make their mistake. Look for a nice smaller site with maybe 50-200 people and with a wide range of payout’s. You may not win a trip to Vegas but this will start you on your way. Winning anywhere from 10c to $5 or $10 is not uncommon and a few placements like this is all you need to be on your way. Once you have something you feel you can play with you need to know how to manage your bankroll so you don’t lose all of your hard earned money in a single tournament.
The common way to do this is said to be using 1/20th of your bankroll for NL cash games. You want to have at least 300 big blinds in limit cash games so if the big blind is 5c you should have at least $15 before you sit. If you prefer SnG tournaments with 6-10 people you should use only 1/40th of your bankroll and about 1/100th for large tournaments.
It is wise to play with your bankroll wisely, as every player will have highs and lows when playing. Managing your bankroll accounts for you losing for awhile without needing to worry about going broke. Obviously, if you can fund more games after you have lost your whole bankroll then these tips do not apply to you, but its always wise to keep an eye on it no matter how much money you may have. When I started playing, I found that free online poker were the way forward and I managed to get some cash behind me to occasionally take my play to real cash games.

Free Online Poker guide to Where to Play Poker
I have written, and read, tons of articles on how to play poker, tips of playing poker and strategies, but one thing that I find isn’t touched on much, is where to play poker and free online poker.
If you want to play real life opponents in the flesh, then my preference is to play people I know rather than hitting a casino. Casino’s get a large chunk of the pot which leaves less for the players, plus, I know that people I am playing against wont cheat.
Internet online poker is another option, and my option of choice. There is an infinite number of players and many choices of poker room.
I will divide rooms between free and paid, not including those that play purely for fun and are 100% non profit. We want to win some money after all!
Here are some things to check to make sure the room is good:
The payment: the vast majority of these rooms have quality certificates and security certificates. Be sure your choice does. Read the small print too to understand what is involved with deposit and how and what is involved in withdrawing money.
Are the games played enough for you to win? In real money games the room must run a rake and take a small part of the pot. Tournaments take a commission and there is a minimum number of participants to do them profitable. Does the room have enough members playing at once in the games and tourneys you want tom play to make it worthwhile? You should be able to see this easily by keeping an eye on their poker games software where numbers of players are shown.
Some sites offer an eye catching bonus if you sign up with them. Remember to read the small print to check the rules on withdrawing this . Make sure you read and fully understand this. Some rooms are better than others. Do not forget that the bank always wins but some do it more nastily than others!.
I’ve found that Titan Poker is one of the best paid rooms for European players. They also have an extra deal with NoPayPOKER.com for a handy free money start up. Literally you can join free and get $25 US real to play with; no strings apart from you have to play with it there. Go join NoPayPOKER.com to find this offer.
If poker is a whole new world to you, then I would advise that you start by playing on free online poker sites, such as NoPayPOKER, where they get their money from advertising and not from players. Only go for sites which are 100% free and do not ask for any initial payment up front.
The only problem in these rooms is an acceptable limit of withdraw the money, which is entirely logical for the costs of proceeding that involves a payment. That’s the price you pay I guess.
After played in more than 30 gaming rooms, I think the best free online poker tournaments room I’ve found and will recommend is NoPayPOKER.com. No translation in Spanish but easy to understand for any user because it is very intuitive.
