Ways Global Warming Has Affected Our Country in Both Colder Climates and Southern Ones Too

Global warming is occurring nationwide and the effects are being noticed by all Americans . Because the ozone layer is thinning due to toxic air pollution produced by people , we are feeling the result of that behavior. Climate changes and the warming of the earth has been felt over the past decade in all of the regions of the US . What can you do to fight the heat during the summertime ? It will describe ways to save money by using Louisville air conditioning repair and Louisville air conditioning service to maintain your HVAC system as well as preparing your home to stay cooler from improved insulation.

The warming temperatures have been worrisome through the years and has been felt not only in the traditionally warmer climates like the south and southwestern states but also in the more frigid areas like Alaska and Vermont. One example is of Vermonters that have lived in their mountainous state for 25 or more years. Two decades ago air conditioning and just a fan was usually not neccessary during the summer months as the highest temperature usually was in the upper 70’s. Now it is common to experience hot, humid days that are well into the 90’s requiring some form of air conditioning for these old farmhouses . Even as early as 15 years ago, newly built homes did not include central air conditioning because it was unneccessary and now that is no longer the case .

In Alaska the global warming is creating havoc on the glaciers and levels of the water . As the glaciers that had always stayed frozen twelve months out of the year are now melting, it is raising the areas water levels and causing some erosion of the land . Areas that were once dry land are now under water because of the melting of glaciers. A lot of ecologists are afraid that the present generation will be the last people that will view such glaciers exist.

A few states like Florida, Georgia and Texas have traditionally been warm but now have become so heated in the summer that is affecting its residents in an alarming way. There are a lot of deaths from extreme heat and humidity in these areas that local news channels are often warning very young and old people to stay out of the heat as it can make them very sick.

Air conditioning is a necessity in these areas but not everyone can afford it. Fans in the windows can help a bit but a good idea is to have the insulation in your home replaced that will help keep your home cooler in the summer heat.

In states that have less humidity , swamp coolers are quite popular in cooling homes and offices . This is particularly helpful in desert states like Arizona or Nevada where the air is dry and the temperatures are high . The swamp cooler sits on top of the roof and with a fan and water helps to cool the interior space of the home. Many think it is as effective as air conditioning at a fraction of the price .

How to Be More Green and Help Save the Environment

The term “being green” is one that is often heard today on the news, from famous people and in the press . What does it mean? Being green is to be more aware of helping the environment and to take steps to help save the environment for future generations . This article will describe the many ways you can be more green with things such as reducing paper waste by using rubber stamps and address stamps rather than adhesive paper to encouraging all of your neighbors to recycle .

Americans waste so much paper and the result is too many trees are being chopped down which then affects our ozone layer and our quality of air . There are several simple ways to help lower your paper use in your home now . The first is to reduce to amount of catalogs and junk mail you get in the mail. There are online sites that you can find to stop the mailing of catalogs and junk mail to your residence . Those things that do continue to come should be placed in a recycling bin .

Recycling is only done by a small margin of Americans and this needs to change. The fee to recycle is such a small one and really something that all citizens can do even in this difficult economy. Once you begin recycling your plastic, glass, metal and paper you will be shocked to see how your household trash will be cut by more than 50% . This is a great way to get your kids active in to have a greater understanding of how recycling will help our environment by cutting down the landfills that are using our country’s land.

Another way to be more green is to try to condense all of your driving trips. Several Americans go on errands at the last minute and therefore use their car more than is needed . If they simply organize out their day ahead with the places they need to visit , it will help lower the pollution in the air and save you time and money too . If your job is close to your home , consider riding your bike to work three times a week or even starting a carpool with a few coworkers that live close by .

There are a couple of other ways to be more environmentally friendly . One is to follow the example of citizens from other countries that carry their own sacks or baskets when they go shopping. This will reduce the amount of plastic bags used and many stores now credit you with bringing your own bags to their store . Replacing your light bulbs to the new fluorescent ones in your house is another step to save energy and help the environment . And finally, reducing the electricity and water in your daily use will help also . Shut off all lights and electronic devices when not in use to lower your energy bills as well as take shorter showers and turn off the water while brushing your teeth all add up to making a difference in our environment.
