Incredibly compact- The Samsung SCX 4521 printer is incredibly compact considering that it’s a multi-function device with latest print, scan, fax and copy technology. Boasting with super small footprint measurements of 14.5×17x14.7 inches and weighing in at a light 10 Kilograms. Consumers love investing in products that de-clutter their home or office environment and this is exactly what the product does.

Quality expectations- At a very affordable price of US$250.00 you can expect that there must be something missing or lacking to the machine. Unfortunately the lack is in the form of print quality. Text quality is rather mediocre and only suitable for normal, everyday jobs. If high quality and quantity print jobs are handled, the printer will not be suitable. Quality in terms of graphics and photo printing is also below average with dithering clearly visible on prints.

Paper- All popular paper sizes and types are compatible with the printer for both printing and copying. The printer reach an engine speed of rather slow 20 pages per minute for both print and copy production at 600×600 dpi. Warm-up time is almost non-existing with first print or copy production 11 seconds from standby mode

OS Requirement- All major operating systems are compatible with the device including Windows 98/ME/NT4.0/2000/XP, Linux and Apple Mac.

Noise- If you hate printer noise rather steer clear from the Samsung SCX 4521 printer as it one of the noisiest printers on the market. Unfortunately there’s no long term solution or quick fix for reducing or eliminating the noise, you will either have to get use to it or not buy it at all.

Port options- The printer comes with the latest as well a bit of outdated technology in terms of connectivity. On the one hand you have USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 compatibility and on the other hand Parallel port option. No cables are included with the printer. Ethernet connectivity is available as an extra if you plan to use the machine in network environment.

Possible problems- Scan quality is terrible with uneven contract areas on the scanned document. The output paper tray has a tendency to spill prints in large quantities. Toner- Samsung SCX 4521 toner is included with your purchase. Replacement with normal Printer cartridge with approximate capacity of 3000 pages will be required soon as print capacity is extremely limited at 1000 pages. Included with the printer is a wonderful function called One Touch Toner which reduces toner wastage by up to ¼, in turn giving you more prints of up to 750 sheets per cartridge.
